Launched in August 2017, the primary goal of this foundation is to provide financial assistance to indigent and orphaned primary school-age students in Etinan Local Government (Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria), for their basic school and medical needs. The first cohort of these students is currently in kindergarten and primary one (first grade) in Government School, Ikot Ebo. My plan is to sponsor them through the six to seven years of their elementary schooling. In its inaugural year, thanks to the generosity of Newton North’s Leadership Class of 2016/2017, colleagues and family members, I raised about $900.00 dollars. With these funds, I was able to buy school uniforms for 38 students (the initial cohort of 29 and nine additional students), and pay the summer school fees for a youngster whom I needed to get off the streets. My plan for 2018 is to raise $3000.00 to pay for these scholars’ school supplies and basic health needs (such as routine medical and dental check-ups, vitamins, and tooth paste and brushes); and to ship donated school supplies and clothes to them. I would greatly appreciate any financial assistance that will enable me to meet these goals by June 2018. Thank you in advance for your assistance, Dr. Isongesit Ibokette Newton Public Schools, Newton, MA. US.
