PRESIDENT’S ADDRESS

My name is Ikpongifonno Umoren. I’m very humbled and privileged to serve AICAM as President for nearly 8 years.

On behalf of the members of the Akwa Ibom Community Association of Massachusetts, Inc. I welcome you to our 2019 Educational Fundraising and Cultural Gala night. Permit me to assure you that the state of AICAM is solid as a rock.

  • Akwa Ibom – FAMILY
  • Akwa Ibom – UNITY
  • Akwa Ibom – PROGRESS

We are inspired by your presence and moved by your thoughtfulness to be part of our effort to be the difference that we want to see.

Four years ago, AICAM stakeholders decided to find a need and fill it. Some of you here responded to our call for help and supported our Special Community Re-building Project. Between then and now, and with your help, we have been able to accomplish the following:

  • Re-roof the Run Down Five-Classroom building in Ediene Ikono, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria
  • Plaster walls and floor | Paint | Install new doors and windows
  • Furnished all Five classrooms and Renovated and furnished the Head Mistress’ Office

In all of these, one can only imagine the smiles on people’s faces and the positive impact in their lives. You joined with us to make a difference in the lives of Ediene Ikono Community which would not have been possible without your help and support. They all owe you a debt of great gratitude and appreciation and wish you God’s continued blessings.

There is still much to be done, but we are hopeful that with your support, we will continue to reach out and touch many other lives in different ways. And as President Obama intoned in his inaugural speech,

“There is nothing so satisfying to the spirit; so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task.”

This couldn’t be farther from the truth!

I, therefore, count on your support for us to be able to continue impacting lives.

Again, welcome to our midst, and thank you for coming. Have fun and enjoy the evening to the fullest!!!!
